Sir, – Could we have a campaign to dissuade any politician from using the word “we”, as in “We are buying more cars”, “We are building more houses”, etc? The legacy of the last government (with Labour support) is substantially greater societal inequality.
When politicians use the word “we”, it clearly refers to their cohort, and does not relate to a substantial proportion of the population. Perhaps politicians could find refuge and touch reality with “Some of us privileged folk . . . ”? – Yours, etc,
