What lies in store for Irish Water?

Sir, – Some people have stated that water should be free (it rains so much); others that it should be paid for a body such as the National Roads Authority. Why not provide a box of drinking straws to every household in the country, with directions to the nearest pothole? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – As one who saves the State some money by paying for my own water through a private well, will I now be entitled to a tax credit for doing do? – Yours, etc,

SEAN LAVERY,

Shanagolden,

Co Limerick.

Sir, – What a difference a few days make. Then no party was giving way on the issue of Irish Water. Now the parties are perhaps sniffing that after all it is not the real issue and all are amenable to shifting their position. When will we the electorate wake up to the fact that we really have elected a crowd of eejits to represent us? Roll on Election 2016 2.0. – Yours, etc,

DEREK MacHUGH,

Bray,

Co Wicklow.

Sir, – So Fine Gael wants to keep Irish Water but is willing to discuss changing its position, while Fianna Fáil want to abolish Irish Water but resume charging for water in five years. Surely they can meet in the middle and rebrand the company as Irish Fudge. – Yours, etc,

ANDREW LEONARD,

Sandycove,

Co Dublin.
