URSULA MORRISSEY,
Sir, - Well done to Joe O'Connor (March 13th), Ursula Hough-Gormley (March 19th), et al., for stirring up the debate about the future location of the Abbey Theatre. The last time the plain people of Ireland protested loudly about something was when RTE axed the professional weather forecasters - and we know how succcessful that protest was!
The future of the National Theatre should concern every citizen, so let's show some national pride and sign petitions, write to local papers and talk to politicians so that, whatever the outcome, we will have had a say in the matter.
It seems providential to me that such a large and suitable site as the Carlton is available just when the Abbey needs to expand. We should not leave our National Theatre on a narrow side street. - Yours, etc.,
URSULA MORRISSEY,
