Wildlife and cutting hedges

Sir, – Great to read all the letters on increased interest in wildlife and gardening. I would point out that hedge-cutting is supposed to stop at the end of February.

However, keen gardeners are still trimming away, perhaps aggravated by not being able to visit the hairdresser!

Immaculate gardens may impress the neighbours but the wildlife finds no beauty there. – Yours, etc,
