Madam, - Once again Ireland experiences the merest taste of what winter is capable of throwing at us and reports of needless accidents on the country's highways and byways fill the media. Despite plenty of advance warning of the brief cold snap, many roads remained hazardous and untreated by the authorities.
What on earth are road-users paying road tax for, if not to cover eventualities of this nature? This highlights once again the propensity of the people "running" this extremely greedy and divided country to take the hard-pressed taxpayer's money yet deliver very little in return. - Yours, etc.,
