Madam, - Dr Margaret Fine-Davis's comments (October 18th), in relation to your recent survey on women's attitudes, that women's strong interest in the issues of the day "could be translated into stronger interest in politics".
This should be taken with a grain of salt. Women have had the vote for more than 80 years, yet women comprise a mere 12 per cent proportion of Dáil representatives.
While much of the blame lies with the chauvinism of male members of political parties, women, who are the majority in the electorate, have a vote in each election. - Yours, etc,
