Women and war

Madam, - Kevin Myers's Irishman's Diary of May 8th dealt with the tragic deaths of two young men in the war in Iraq, one Irish and one from Zimbabwe, and sympathetically drew his readers' attention to many important themes. I wish to highlight an important clause which also deserves attention: "and his grieving mother's sister is gang-raped by them. . ."

As ever and everywhere the physical and sexual abuse of women is integral to that universal pursuit called war. - Yours, etc.,
