Sir, - Mary Stewart (October 7th) takes the ICA to task for not supporting women who work in the home caring for their children in its submission on the Budget. Indeed, Mary asks if they were mentioned at all. I can assure her that they were strongly represented at the pre-Budget forum by the organisation "Women in the Home", also known as WITH, which made a submission on their behalf.

WITH asked for recognition by the State of the valuable work of women working in the home to the family, society and the national economy. WITH also asked for parity of access to social welfare benefits and a payment to mothers who nurture their children, particularly during the vital formative years, in their own home environment. - Yours, etc., Aileen Price,
