Madam, - Just a note to say how much I enjoyed Johnny Watterson's excellent reporting on what has been for me a most entertaining Wimbledon fortnight.
However, Johnny was in error in referring to a Borg-Connors final of 1982. Borg's last final was in 1981; it was McEnroe whom Connors defeated in 1982.
Borg and Connors did meet in two finals, in 1977 (after Connors had beaten the unseeded McEnroe in the semi-final) and in 1978 Borg's other singles wins were in 1976 (vs Nastase), 1979 (vs Tanner) and in 1980 (vs McEnroe) - the match that included the famous 18-16 tie-break in the fourth set. - Yours, etc,
