Madam, - Martin Mansergh writes (Opinion, March 20th) that the IRA's terrorist and criminal activities are an unattractive advertisement for Irish unity. He also refers to "a phrase in the Downing Street Declaration inserted by John Hume stated that it is for those who believe in Irish unity to persuade those who do not". With Dr Mansergh doing the persuading, the Union is safe. - Yours, etc.,
