Sir, - Michael Webb's report, (January 29th) about continuing growth in the construction industry was very encouraging. Along with the points, discussed in his article, the issue of the safety and health of the workers needs also to be factored in. Accidents in the construction industry are too numerous, hurting workers and placing unnecessary costs on the industry and State services.
Good management of safety and health in employment is a mark of good management generally. This is a message which the Health and Safety Authority would like to bring home to the construction industry. - Yours, etc.,
