Sir, - I heard from a friend who had a brother helping to organise the World Youth Day in Rome this year that there was an "amazing buzz" about the place as kids started to arrive. Then I heard that 2.1 million young people had arrived, my daughter and niece among them. I searched the papers every day and waited for the news on TV. I was so disappointed. The event was practically ignored.
The media are so loquacious about their liberal views and attitudes, but this is far from the truth. They gave more than half as much coverage to the "non event" that was the Slane Concert than they did to WYD. Our media are selective and censorious at present, which is sad. - Yours, etc.,
