Sir, - With a growing sense of panic I read in your paper that FAS intends to lure workers from other EU countries to Ireland to join the Irish workforce. As it dawned on me that this is not meant to be a joke, I felt the urgent need to warn my fellow EU citizens:

People, please stay where you are! After six months of needless and endless hassle from the Irish authorities trying to obtain permits of residence (a procedure which takes ten minutes in super-bureaucratic Germany), my family and I feel offended, intimidated and totally unwelcome.

Our advice at this stage to non-nationals: celebrate the multi-cultural societies you live in and leave Ireland and its xenophobic authorities to what they seem to be enjoying most - their own incestuous company - helped, no doubt, by the millions of pounds of EU funds! - Yours, etc., Maria Huss,
