Sir, – I applaud Niamh Towey (Opinion, July 29th) for calling out her peers and their enthusiasm for "fitstagramming" .
The pornification of the health and fitness industry is a concern of industry leaders worldwide. It is no wonder that anxiety-disorders (orthorexia being one) are on the rise in younger people with the rise of social media and the sharing of every small detail of an individual’s “power breakfast”, “strong is the new skinny” workout. The fact that Ms Towey can sit easy with her decision to have potatoes the odd time or indulge in her mother’s brownies is the best indicator of true mental and physical health and wellness that any person can have – an acceptance of self and not what others think.
– Yours, etc
