Sir, - As the "evidence of more open ministerial disagreement" (Editorial June 21st), mounts within the disintegrating Irish Government, I am reminded of the political observation of one astute German statesman at the time of the crisis within the Weimar Republic in 1929.
Speaking of the then government coalition, a member of the German Democratic Party said: "What we have today is a coalition of ministers, not a coalition of parties. There are no government parties, only opposition parties."
The body language of Ministers McCreevy and Kitt at the euro briefing says it all. Roll on the general election! - Yours, etc.,
