Sir, - In an effort to reduce the amount of rubbish going out in our bin, I like to buy refill packs of detergents. Today, in our local Tesco store, Fairy nonbiological liquid detergent cost £3.26 for a one-litre refill pouch and £4.26 for a 1.5litre screwcap bottle with free rollerball. So if you want to go green, you pay £3.26 per litre and if you are willing to add one large, non-biodegradable plastic bottle to landfill, you pay £2.84 per litre. As an added irony, the same section of the supermarket had listed various ways of helping the environment! - Yours, etc.,
