Ireland’s Olympic medal hopes have never been higher.
And Paris is set to put on a show: the opening ceremony kicks off on Friday with a flotilla down the Seine – the first time a games has opened outside a stadium.
Team Ireland is made up of 140 athletes primed to compete across 15 different sports. It’s the largest Irish Olympic team ever.
Many of the athletes are already household names, including Rashidat Adeleke, Kellie Harrington and Paul O’Donovan, while others will be new names for those watching on the sofa, including Daniel Wiffen and Jack Woolley.
