Roderic O’Gorman is the leader of the Green Party and has been a TD and Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth since 2020.
The 42-year-old grew up in Dublin 15 and lives in Blanchardstown village with his husband Ray Healy, whom he married in 2023.
Mr O’Gorman first became involved with the Greens at the age of 10 when he canvassed for Trevor Sargent and was a committed activist during his teenage years.
He was a founder of the Young Greens and has filled many roles in the party, including being chair for nine years between 2011 and 2020. He was a Fingal County Councillor from 2014 to 2020.
He studied law at Trinity College, has a masters in European Law at the London School of Economics, and has a PhD in EU law from Trinity College. Before entering politics, he was a lecturer in law and government at DCU.
