Johnny Mythen lives in Enniscorthy in Co Wexford with his wife Barbara.

He worked with the ESB for many years, but also was part of the Unite Union and its national team.

He was first elected as a Sinn Féin TD for Wexford four years ago, when he received 18,717 first preference votes.

For more than 12 years he has also coached GAA teams in his home town including both under-age and senior rugby teams.

He served as chairperson of the Enniscorthy Urban District Council and was a member of Wexford County Council from 2014 to 2019,
