It is no secret that electric vehicles have faced some mixed publicity this year in the Irish press due to issues such as possible high battery costs “should something go wrong”, poor resale values and a charging infrastructure that seems to be lagging behind those of some of European neighbours.
The reality is a lot of this was down to misinformation; however, events such as the free-to-attend Nevo Electric Vehicle Show – which took place in February in the RDS, attended by about 12,672 people – do an incredible job of educating people.
As the winter months beckon, many of us may be considering a vehicle change for the 251 registration period. With this in mind, and electric vehicles still very much in the spotlight, the team in Nevo are set to return to the RDS on Sunday, November 10th to demonstrate just how fast things are changing within the EV sector.
With more than 80 electric vehicles from more than 30 leading automotive brands, the show has had to move to the RDS Simmonscourt complex to make use of the larger floor space. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to explore a diverse range of electric vehicles, from nimble city cars to high-performance models and versatile family vehicles.

Having attended February’s Nevo show, we particularly enjoyed the series of panel discussions with key industry leaders on the Bank of Ireland stage. Such was the popularity of this section that a second stage will be added in Simmonscourt where attendees can expect a focus on the more practical aspects of owning and operating an electric vehicle.
Topics covered will include charging options and solar integration, along with information regarding the used EV market. Again, this should dispel some myths and prepare visitors for making the most of owning an EV.
Derek Reilly, partnerships director at Nevo, is excited about the many Irish launches at the show which, coupled with the comprehensive educational content, make it “an unmissable event for anyone interested in the future of electric vehicles in Ireland”, he says.
