Irish Construction Industry Awards 2019 shortlist announced

The sixth Irish Construction Industry Awards, held on June 13th in Citywest Hotel, Dublin, will celebrate the best of Irish construction and design

Industry professionals will gather from all over the country for the big night on June 13th

The Irish Construction Industry Awards will celebrate another strong year for the sector as they return for their sixth staging on June 13th at Citywest Hotel, Dublin.

With a €23 billion construction spend estimated in 2019, the industry is experiencing  significant growth and the awards will celebrate those organisations, teams and individuals who are meeting the demand for new buildings and infrastructure projects to support future economic growth and social and spatial planning.

The number of entries for this year’s awards increased by 15 per cent, with companies such as BAM Contractors, Bennett Construction, Collen Construction, and Ethos Engineering among those on the recently announced shortlist.

Roadbridge have a proud history with the Irish Construction Industry Awards and are delighted to be shortlisted in the Civil Contractor of the Year category. “2019 is shaping up as a landmark year for us and winning this award would be a perfect validation of our efforts,” says Peter Byrne, Roadbridge Quality & Environmental manager.

Stewart Construction are nominated for the Conservation Project of the Year and Education Project of the Year. Rachael Stewart, Stewart Construction's director, says, "The ICI Awards night is an opportunity to celebrate high standards of construction in Ireland. We are proud of two award nominations for The Goethe Institut's Headquarters in Merrion Square which sets a new benchmark standard for Georgian Dublin.

There are 26 different categories to be decided, with standouts including Commercial Project of the Year, Residential Project of the Year and Project Manager of the Year.

Deciding on all of these will be an expert judging panel, drawn from industry leaders and trusted peers.

Judge Derry Scully, BSc, Dip Proj. Man., FSCSI, FRICS said the following, while discussing the announcement of the 2019 shortlist of candidates for the awards:

“Output in the construction industry was almost €21 billion last year and, as activity shows no sign of slowing, is expected to reach €23 billion this year. The increase in residential output is especially to be welcomed. The entrants for the Irish Construction Industry Awards this year reflect a busy industry and showcase the best of modern Irish innovative design and construction. Whilst the industry faces well publicised challenges, relating to skills shortages and rising prices, it is heartening to see the emphasis on sustainability and health and safety amongst the high quality entrants.”
