On Thursday, March 8th, a range of HR teams across both the public and private sector will be waiting with bated breath as the HR Leadership & Management Awards 2018 is celebrated at a gala ceremony in the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Dublin.
Now in its fourth year, the awards is the largest and most established of its kind in Ireland, with teams and individuals recently receiving the news that they have been among those shortlisted across the 19 different categories.
The HSE teams boast an impressive eight different nominations this year, including recognition of their Workplace Health and Wellbeing Unit in the ‘Best Health & Wellbeing Strategy’ category and their Health Voices Choir in the award shortlist for ‘Most Effective Employee Engagement Strategy.’
The HSE's national director of human resources, Rasarii Mannion, explained the underlying ethos behind their success, "The People Strategy is focused on providing a cohesive framework to lead, manage and develop the contribution of all staff in an environment that is conducive to learning and wellbeing. The HR Leadership & Management Awards provide an opportunity to showcase many of the positive initiatives in the health services and promote the work of our staff."
Musgrave Operating Partners Ireland also feature in the 'Best Health & Wellbeing Strategy' category. One of four nominations they have in total. "We are delighted to be shortlisted for 4 different award categories. In 2017 a key pillar of our business plan was to focus on people and being shortlisted for so many awards is testament to the hard work & dedicated of the HR Team," said Musgrave regional HR manager, Kellie DeLacy.
When browsing the different categories, teamwork, communication and education come to the fore, not to mention how technology can help in all these areas. "Rather than fear technology, we should be embracing it, which is why MHR is sponsoring the Most Innovative Use of Technology award. Each of the category finalists demonstrate significant achievements in this area," explained MHR's general manager, Stewart Miller.
The standard of entries is extremely high this year. A fact that is not lost on judging co-ordinator, Brenda Dooley, "The judges were very impressed with the range and diversity of the nominated organisations. Those who submitted to this year's HR awards demonstrated a good balance between innovation using internet technologies and engagement through the delivery of organisation wide programmes. The awards are going from strength to strength."
Zurich were also involved as a sponsor of the event, with Joe Creegan, head of Corporate Life and Pensions, saying; "Zurich, a leading provider of Company Pension Plans, is delighted to sponsor the HR Awards because we believe that the HR team is critical in driving basic values like integrity, diversity, teamwork and customer centricity to foster trust with all the stakeholders in an organisation."
There is also a great variety of business areas featured among the nominations, ranging from private retail companies to institutes of education, and plenty in between.
