Although winners will not be announced until October 3rd, early recognition for those in the competion comes as the shortlist is announced.

Entries this year have increased by 20 per cent, underlining the intense demand for design and build serivces in Ireland. Commercial buildings in particular are brought to the fore with their own distinct category, The Building of the Year – Commercial, which celebrates the exceptional commercial and industrial projects that have been delivered in the past year.

The ceremony, held in the Mansion House, Dublin, will hand out 17 awards on the night, with each recipient chosen by a panel of 10 expert judges.

With the level of competition at such a high standard this year, deciding on the overall winners won't be an easy task, according to Frank McDonald, Judging co-ordinator for the awards. “As judging co-ordinator, I am impressed with the range of entries in each category. The quality is so high that it will be difficult to choose a winner,” he says.
