With a big 2019 ahead, those in the Facilities Management sector enjoyed a perfect opportunity to come together and reflect on the industry at present, with the celebration of the FM Awards 2019 on January 31st.
Innovative teams and individuals were honoured at the ceremony, with 17 awards handed out across the night. Areas such as client services, health & safety, and sustainability were recognised, with the spotlight also being shone on some ground-breaking projects.
Winners came from both the public and private sectors, including Wyse, who were honoured with Property Management Team of the Year. Speaking about their win, Wyse’s managing director, Ben Gough, says:
"This was our first year being shortlisted at the FM Awards, so we were delighted to have won Property Management Team of the Year. We are so appreciative of all our staff and this award recognises their hard work and ability to collaborate successfully, particularly on difficult projects.”
Reflecting, after they had won Specialist FM Service Provider of the Year, joint managing directors, John Dempsey and Jim Mullett, of AirconMech and AMV Systems, say: "The award was the result of a huge team effort and we are delighted to see the team's focus on customer service rewarded. We are immensely proud of all of the team and the services they provide, as both companies have gone from strength to strength over the past two decades."
Now in its sixth year, the competition for each category within the awards was fierce, as judging co-ordinator, John Cunniffe, estate manager of The Bar Council of Ireland, pointed out: “I am delighted to be involved with the FM Awards, and I have noticed the standard and quality of entries continues to grow. The Awards are a great opportunity to showcase the talented individuals that contribute to the sector and the companies which are both client-focused and innovative in their approach.”
The judging panel for the Factilties Management Awards includes Lily Ellis, account director EMEA IFM at JJL; George Harold, chief executive at Integrated Facilities Solutions; Áine Mulcahy, managing director at OCS Group Ireland; Eoin Manley group facilities manager at Dalata Hotel Group; Eileen Slamon, Dublin workplace manager at LinkedIn; John Cunniffe, estate manager at The Bar Council of Ireland; Paul Mangan, director of estates and facilities at Trinity College Dublin; Derek O'Boyle, general manager at MKF Property Services; Conor Cooney, lead facilities management consultant at; and Vincent Callan, director of facilities at St James Hospital.
Facilities Management company, Mitie, were both an award sponsor and winner on the night. Their managing director in Ireland, Les Sheridan, says: “Mitie is proud to have received the award for FM Office Project of the Year and we’d also like to congratulate Cormac Garton who was shortlisted for FM of the Year. It was great event bringing thought leaders and influencers in our industry together to celebrate excellence in FM.”
Liam Smith, sales director, Ireland, for Tork says: “Tork from Essity were delighted to continue our sponsorship of the FM awards.
