Tallaght based indie rock band, GANGS, have been selected as one of six music acts to share the story of their music career to date in the form of an artist video journey. The video diary, shot in Tallaght and Dublin city, documents how the quartet’s collective appreciation for music and fashion brought them together.
Since their formation two years ago, the four-piece band has gone on to sell out many of Dublin’s music venues and truly taken the music scene by storm. The band recently received high praise from esteemed artists Gem Archer and Andy Bell from Beady Eye, a testament to how far they have come in such a short period.
In 2014 alone, GANGS headlined the famous Whelan’s ‘Ones To Watch Festival’ and played The Great Escape in Brighton, while drawing sizeable crowds to various shows across the UK and Ireland. Most recently, GANGS have been invited to play the sold out Electric Picnic festival, a clear sign of just how fast things are moving. Their debut EP, ‘Back to School’, hits stores next month.
Speaking about the campaign video, GANGS frontman Jordan Curtis said: ‘Filming the video was great – we got to shoot some of it in Tallaght, where we’re from, so it shows how we got together two years ago and how far we’ve come since then. Guinness Amplify is a brilliant platform for new bands starting out so we hope everyone will head to the pubs in September and October to see for themselves how hot the (music) scene is here at the moment!’
Guinness Amplify is a new, exciting music programme that was launched earlier this summer to turn up the volume for emerging musicians in Ireland by supporting them as they unlock their full potential. Guinness Amplify Live will see 500 free gigs take place across 5 weeks in September and October.
Over the five weekends of Guinness Amplify Live, some of the biggest names in the music industry will perform surprise gigs in pubs in unknown locations. To date, the lineup includes; Kodaline, Ellie Goulding, Walking On Cars, Daithi, Bastille, Disclosure and Jess Gylnne.
Aside from Guinness Amplify Live, the music programme has three other key components, each designed to cater for the different needs of emerging talent.
