IQ Consult is a Berlin based agency for social innovation and enterprise that provides startup advice for marginalised groups. It recognises that many unemployed and underemployed people have natural business instincts but lack the required business plans and credit history to access training and funding. Offering a comprehensive programme of individual coaching, qualification and a shared working space for social entrepreneurs, the IQ programme has led to the creation of 1,500 companies, 70 per cent of which are still in operation after three years. With unemployment steady at over 14 per cent and youth unemployment over 30 per cent in Ireland, IQ Consult and a local team are looking to share their methodologies with microfinance and enterprise institutions in Ireland.
