In 2019, Pfizer celebrates 50 years in Ireland. Over that time the company has made a $8 billion capital investment but it is the 3,700 employees who make up Pfizer's true value. From the newest members of staff, who voted Pfizer most popular graduate recruiter in science at the 2019 grad awards, to the winners of the biopharma manufacturing team of the year at the IMR Manufacturing Awards, undoubtedly the people at Pfizer are the reason for its success.

Ringaskiddy, Cork

Produces and exports bulk pharmaceuticals and products from Pfizer's pipeline and complex therapies. One of the first US pharmaceutical businessses to locate in Ireland, Pfzier set up its first production facility in Ringaskiddy in 1969 to produce food chemicals, including citric acid and gluconate products.

Newbridge, Kildare

Pfizer Newbridge is one of Europe's largest manufactureres of solid-dose pharmaceuticals. The facility currently supplies more than 80 product formations across a range of products; including central nervous system, hormone therapy and oral contraceptives to more than 100 markets across the world.

Ringsend, Dublin

Pfizer Ringsend hosts the shared financial services centre; and the Dublin Treasury Centre. The DTC provides in-house banking and corporate treasurey services to all of Pfizer's international affiliates.

Grangecastle, Dublin

Pfizer Grangecastle is one of the largest integrated biotechnology plants in the world. With more than 2,000 professionals involved in state-of-the-art research, development, manufacturing and analytical technology Pfizer Grangecastle is supporting some of the biggest-selling pharmaceutical products in the global marketplace.

Timeline

  • 1969: First production facility in Ringsaskiddy to produce food chemicals
  • 1978: Opening of Little Island manufacturing plant
  • 1991: Opening of the Dublin Treasury Centre
  • 1992: Opening of the Newbridge facility, by Wyeth, now Europe's largest manufacturer of solid-dose pharmaceuticals. Since 2006, more than €250 millionhas been invested in Newbridge to expand its development and manufacturing capabilities.
  • 2000: With the acquisition of Warner Lambert the Little Island plant becomes part of Pfizer.
  • 2003: Pfizer and Pharmacia combine operations. Construction begins by Wyethon the Biotech Campus facility in Grange Castle. Pfizer established European Financial Shared Services in Dublin.
  • 2009: Pfizer acquires Wyeth
  • Today: Pfizer Ireland is one of the country's largest employers
