Longford SFC final/Clonguish 1-15 Fr Manning Gaels 0-5: There was no stopping Clonguish as they cruised to the Longford senior football championship title for the second year in a row with victory over neighbours Fr Manning Gaels at Pearse Park yesterday.
Superior in practically every position, Clonguish proved far too strong for Fr Manning Gaels whose entire tally of five points was registered by Padraic Davis.
Inspired by man of the match Paul Barden at centre-half forward, the reigning champions held a comfortable 0-7 to 0-2 lead at the break with Barden scoring four points in a rather one-sided first half.
Things did not get any better for the former kingpins Fr Manning Gaels in the second half. Particularly prominent for rampant Clonguish was influential substitute Enda Barden, who ended up with five points to his credit.
His brother Paul added two more scores to his tally while the Clonguish goal in the 53rd minute was fired home by Joe O'Brien when he was put clean through after latching on to a long ball from impressive midfielder Paddy Dowd.
