John Treacy CEO/Irish Sports Council and member Slade Valley GC: Earliest golfing memory? Being chased off Milltown Golf Course by an angry golfer as I attempted a five- mile run. I liked to run on the grass, he didn't appreciate my needs.

First victory?

Never won anything major at the club. I need a little more experience at big events.

First time to break 90?

Bob Rotella helped me break 90 a long time ago. Need to bring out the tapes, as I keep getting in my own way on the course.

Last bit of equipment?

A pair of Cleveland woods to match my TaylorMade driver and Ping irons. I got the equipment, now all I need is the swing.

The enjoyment is the walk. The shot-making is the bonus. The last time I used a cart was to carry the water in Spain during the summer.

Last time you muttered an obscenity on a course and why?

The muttering can be heard as I address my second shot in the bunker.

Which of the Majors would you like to attend and why?

The US Open. Read The Greatest Game Ever Played and you will understand.

Ideal fourball: who and where?

Padraig Harrington, Paul McGinley and Catherine Zeta Jones, all my favourite golfers, at the Heritage.

One last round on earth: where would it be?

Druids Glen. "At our age it does not get any better than this."

Ralph Lauren or Lyle & Scott?

Who are the lads? Do they play golf? What are their handicaps?

Is the Titleist ProV1 worth the extra expense?

Yes, if you find a lost ProV1 in the rough, you can hardly believe your luck. No, if you slice it into the water.

Best club food?

Club sandwich and cold beer after a hot day on Los Narranjos in Spain.

One-hundred-and-forty yards out from green. Flat. Calm.

What's in your hand?

You have taken all the uncertainty out of the shot. Now I am really confused.

Favourite club in times of trouble?

Choking down on a four-iron under the trees. Hitting down on the ball, eyes firmly shut.

Parkland or Links?

Links for the deep rough, deep bunkers, lightening-fast greens, all for a truly relaxing day on the course.

Must see golfing holiday destination?

Waterford in the summer, for great golf courses, great value and outstanding hospitality.

Hidden gem?

Westport Golf Club, with a few decent Mayo men willing to part with a few bob.

One Mulligan in life?

Should have done more than run on the courses in Scotsdale, Arizona, when I had the chance.
