A well-taken try by the Wesley College flanker Stuart Abbott in the third minute was largely instrumental in Leinster's victory over Munster in the schools' interprovincial championship at Dooradoyle yesterday.
Abbott gave Leinster the lead when he was driven over the Munster line and the try was converted by Cathal Connolly of St Mary's. Munster gradually gained the upperhand for much of the remainder of the opening half and two penalty goals by the PBC full back Richard Lane narrowed the deficit.
However, Leinster had slightly the better of matters on the resumption and two penalties by Connolly against one by Lane left them worthy four point winners.
