Holes-in-one played a significant part in deciding the outcome of events over the weekend. David Butler holed-in-one at the 12th in Milltown on his way to victory in the foursomes with partner Andreas Buttimer. The Butler/Buttimer partnership had one point to spare over David Robinson and Hugh Raftery - 23 against 22. Meanwhile, at Arklow, Simon Hempenstall aced the third on his way to 30 points and victory in Sunday's 12 holes singles, while Stan Pyke holed out at the second to finish second in the fourball with partner Brendan Geraghty. Oliver Farrell's ace at the sixth in Malahide didn't take him into the winners enclosure, but was still a cause for great celebration for the past president of the club. This was Oliver's first hole-in-one after a lifetime of trying.
