Cliftonville 1 St Patrick's Ath 0:Cliftonville hold the advantage over St Patrick's Athletic thanks to Liam Boyce's early second-half goal last night. Pat's had chances of their own but can thank their goalkeeper Brendan Clarke for limiting the damage with some excellent saves.
Pat’s had the first chance on 11 minutes when Chris Forrester shot from the edge of the box but his low drive went narrowly wide of Ryan Brown’s post.
Clarke made the first of several saves on 18 minutes when he got down to block a George McMullan shot. Clarke then made saves from Joe Gormley on 35 and 37 minutes.
Cliftonville took the lead on 48 minutes when Boyce raced in on Martin Donnelly’s short free-kick and chipped Clarke.
The second leg takes place at Richmond Park next Monday night.
