DLSP v Buccaneers, Kilternan, 2.30 - This is a game both clubs would have targeted as a must-win prior to the start of the season and nothing has changed since. The loser here is in serious trouble. DLSP have been a little vulnerable up front but the return of Declan O'Brien is a big bonus. Shane Stephens moves to centre with Mihai Vioreanu at full back and Brain Hogan starts at scrumhalf. Buccaneers need to be more penetrative behind the scrum. They have an excellent pack but must improve the fluency between backs and forwards. If DLSP win ball up front they possess greater individual flair behind the scrum and may just sneak home.
Forecast: DLSP to win. Betting: (courtesy Paddy Powers): DLSP 5/6, Buccaneers 5/6, 16/1 draw.
Galwegians v Belfast Harlequins, Crowley Park, 2.30 - The home side will be primed to steal a march on their rivals at the top of the league. Despite a fine win last time out - it was only in the closing 10 minutes that Belfast Harlequins piled on the points against Old Crescent - Belfast Harlequins still seem a little lightweight at this level. Galwegians' progress under John Kingston has been measured and they generally seem well prepared. They haven't threatened to obliterate any opposition but the team appears much too streetwise to forego the points. A more relevant question may be whether they can snatch a four-try bonus point.
Forecast: Galwegians to win. Betting: Galwegians 1/8, Belfast Harlequins 9/2, 16/1 draw. Handicap (Harlequins plus 14) 5/6 Galwegians, 5/6 Belfast Harlequins, 18/1 draw.
