Ballydoyle supplies two of the leading players for tomorrow's Stan James 1,000 Guineas in the shape of Rumplestiltskin and Race For The Stars, while a third filly also makes the journey from Co Tipperary with a major chance. This is Alexander Alliance who will bid to put Tommy Stack's name on the Newmarket roll of honour for the second time, 12 years after Las Meninas.

Alexander Alliance, who ran up against the smart Art Museum on her debut at the Curragh last season, looked a fine prospect when beating Kamarinskaya in a six-furlong Listed race at the same venue on her second start. The second is already a Group Three winner this season, and though it is hard to be absolutely certain she will get the trip there is a good chance that she will do so.

Her jockey Wayne Lordan may not be as widely known in Britain as some of his compatriots, but is a very talented rider, an excellent judge of pace who has a cool head on his young shoulders. He certainly has the ability to ride a Classic winner if his mount is up to the task.

Aidan O'Brien's Rumplestiltskin was a top-notch juvenile filly last season. Although she made heavy weather of landing the Moyglare from the apparently well-exposed Ugo Fire she confirmed a high level of ability with the manner in which she captured the Prix Marcel Boussac.

O'Brien's other runner Race For The Stars, still very immature when finishing in rear in the Moyglare, had established a solid reputation by the end of the season. She looks capable of winning good races this season, but it will be a mild surprise if she finishes in front of Rumplestiltskin. In an open-looking race in which Flashy Wings could have a major say, Alexander Alliance is put forward as a likely winner.
