HOCKEY LEINSTER PREMIER SCHOOLGIRLS' LEAGUE FINAL:ALEXANDRA COLLEGE produced a top-class display at Grange Road yesterday to beat the defending champions Muckross Park in the Leinster Premier League final, two goals from Karen Hinkson and another from Kate Macken giving them a convincing 3-0 victory.

Back in February 11 of yesterday's Alexandra squad suffered the heartache of losing the Leinster Senior Cup final to Loreto Beaufort, but once Hinkson gave them a fifth-minute lead they had the look of a side intent on leaving Grange Road as victors this time around.

Hinkson's goal was set up by Irish under-18 panelist Deirdre Duke, also an underage soccer international, and paved the way for an impressive first-half performance by Alexandra.

But a young Muckross side, who have lost six of last year's starting line-up, opened brightly after the break, having been outplayed for much of the first half.

Alexandra, though, weathered that brief rally, going on to have the better of the game, the short corner tally of six to one an indication of their dominance, with Hayley O'Donnell at the centre of much of their best work.

Their second goal came 12 minutes from time, Hannah de Burgh Whyte and Jessica Graham helping create the opening for Macken, and four minutes later the victory was sealed, Hinkson's second goal of the game making it 3-0.
