Dublin football manager Tommy Lyons has been given the all clear on his cardiac health and expects to be discharged from the Blackrock Clinic by tomorrow, writes Seán Moran
Lyons was admitted to hospital last weekend suffering from stomach pains and missed Dublin's quarter-final with Donegal.
"I'm okay," he said last night. "It looks like gall stones or a gall bladder problem. I've been given medication while they decide what to do and expect to be back with the team this weekend. In the meantime, I'm hoping to finish all the tests tomorrow."
He was taken sick with intense pains on Saturday and there were fears that he might be suffering from angina or a more serious heart complaint. But an angiogram revealed no cause for concern.
"I'm fit for the line for the next 25 years, physically fit and fit for the stress," he said.
Although advised not to attend Croke Park on Monday, Lyons was allowed view the match on television.
"I was sedated and wired up to monitors so I was nice and relaxed watching it. I took it easy."
In Lyons' absence, Dublin had a training session last night with the other selectors, Paddy Canning, Dave Billings and Paul Caffrey who took over from Lyons on Monday.
