The draw for the 2003 Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cups was made in Croke Park yesterday. Datapac announced during the week that it would become the new sponsor for both competitions.

Among the preliminary round ties in the Sigerson is the all-Dublin meeting of Trinity College and DCU. The winners of this clash will face holders Sligo IT in the first round.

In the Fitzgibbon, two likely quarter-finals will attract attention. Holders University of Limerick are scheduled to meet Limerick IT if the latter wins its first round tie against preliminary qualifiers. In the same round, UCC's likely opponents are NUI Galway.

Work on a new 5,000-seater stand at Omagh's Healy Park is to begin next week. And it was revealed yesterday that the Sports Council of Northern Ireland is to award a €166,000 grant towards the first phase of the project.

The first phase, with an estimated cost of €528,000, is due for completion by next March, with the second and final phase set to follow immediately, at a cost of a further €830,000.

The stand is expected to be completed by next summer, with the possibility that the Tyrone-Derry Ulster Championship clash could go ahead at the venue.

The project, a joint venture by the county board and the Omagh St Enda's club, has been in the pipeline for four years, but delays were caused principally by the initial lack of financial support from the Lottery Fund of the Sports Council for Northern Ireland.
