Anabaa Blue is the new 5-1 joint second-favourite with Coral Eurobet for next month's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot following reports that connections are targeting the mile-and-a-half contest.

The French Derby winner had been thought likely to take on Epsom hero Galileo in the Irish version of the Classic at the Curragh next month. However the Ascot option allows an extra four weeks for Carlos Lerner's charge to recover from his Chantilly exertions.

Observatory was yesterday given the go-ahead to tackle the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot after giving the right signals in a workout at Manton. And trainer John Gosden is confident his colt will handle the step up to a mile and a quarter in an event he sees as "the race of the week".

The four-year-old, who will be ridden by Richard Hughes, faces tough opposition from the likes of Breeders' Cup Turf winner Kalanisi, Singapore Airlines International Cup scorer Endless Hall and Goldolphin's Fantastic Light.
