Further victories, again at Bangor, and at Catterick, followed before Anabranch faced her sternest test yet, over today's course and distance.

Facing eight rivals, Anabranch led two from home and then kept on gamely to beat Naiysari by a neck.

An 8lb rise for that may seem harsh but Anabranch is still on the upgrade and Jefferson has stated that she is not the type to win by wide margins.

In a tight little race Anabranch, proven over course and distance, looks the runner with most scope.

In Truth, runner-up to Speaker Weatherill in the Great Yorkshire Chase here, is interesting but one can't help feeling he will have to excel beyond expectations to win from 12lb out of the handicap.
