Mayo claimed their fifth Connacht minor football title in six years after a thrilling replay win over Galway at McHale Park on Saturday. John Prenty, whose father is secretary of the Connacht Council, played a central role in Mayo's success contributing six points.
Galway had started much the quicker leading and led by 0-5 to 0-1 after 12 minutes but Mayo gradually fought their way back, albeit that that still trailed by four points at the interval. Galway's midfield began to struggle.
