Antrim 1-16 Leitrim 1-9 Antrim kept the good wine to the last as this was their best performance during their National Football League Division 2A campaign. A 1-16 to 1-9 win over Leitrim at Casement Park yesterday doesn't really do the winners justice.

Leitrim got their goal from the penalty spot, compliments of their top-scorer Padraig McLoughlin, with the second last kick of the match to put a better look on the scoreboard. McLoughlin was the losers' main marksman with 1-6 but his contribution paled in comparison to that of Antrim's Kevin Madden.

Madden gave a man of the match performance with a tally of 1-9 as he proved to be a major thorn in the Leitrim defence throughout.

Leitrim started well against the wind but wasted numerous scoring opportunities before Antrim settled to lead by 0-8 to 0-4 at the interval. Throughout the second half, the home side were always on top with Tony Convery as solid as a rock at centre back.

Madden hit Antrim's goal in the 45th minute. Darren O'Hare blocked down a high ball into Madden's path and the Portglenone player sliced through from 30 metres to lash the ball into the Leitrim net and give his team a 1-9 to 0-6 lead.
