Cycling/Junior Tour: Ireland rider Adam Armstrong finished sixth behind Dutchman Joey Bestebeurje (BMV Tempo Veldhoven) in Castlebar yesterday, but with team-mate Martin Munroe finishing 40 seconds down in eighth, he takes over at the top after yesterday's fourth day of the M Donnelly Junior Tour.

Armstrong was part of a group of riders which went clear coming out of Achill Sound. Also there were the Dutch duo of Joey Bestebreurtje and Willem Schwaner, Urban Monks, Tom Diggle and CiaráCassidy.

Munroe mounted a determined chase when he realised he was in danger of losing yellow. He worked hard with Jonathan Bellis but despite closing the gap, they were still 40 seconds behind at the finish. There, Bestebreurtje took his second stage win in succession, ahead of Cassidy and Monks.

Armstrong now takes over from his team-mate at the top of the general classification, with Schwaner nine seconds down in second place. The race continues today with the penultimate stage, a 66-mile race from Castlebar to Windy Gap.
