PREMIERSHIP NEWS: Rami Shaaban will get the chance to prove himself as the long-term successor to David Seaman when he makes his Arsenal debut against PSV Eindhoven this evening.

Seaman is out of Arsenal's final Group A Champions League game with a groin strain suffered against Newcastle on Saturday. In addition Sol Campbell will be rested after playing with back pain in the 1-0 win, but the loss of both for the derby against Tottenham on Saturday would be a more serious blow.

Shaaban is a Swede whose mother is from Finland and father from Egypt. Aged 27 and 6ft 4in, he was chosen from a succession of trialists during the summer.

"I have an opportunity to see Shaaban and give him a chance to see how good he is," Wenger said. "He has a very good spirit and is improving. We had a few (goalkeepers on trial) here and he was the one who impressed us. He has all the right assets and is still young for a goalkeeper.

"David's not out of the Tottenham game and today the injury did not look too bad, although I have to concede he is doubtful," the manager added.
