Athlone IT 1-14 Cork IT 1-10James Coughlan landed eight points as Athlone yesterday overturned a five-point deficit. Cork's Brian Sheehan was sent off late on. Daniel Goulding goaled after six minutes and so Cork led by 1-7 to 0-5 at the break. Athlone's Rory Guinan missed a penalty late in the half.

Boosted by a James Kavanagh goal, Athlone levelled 11 minutes into the half. However, points from Goulding, Sheehan and Donncha O'Connor left Cork three ahead but Diarmuid Blake's point forced extra-time. Seán Hackett, Guinan and Coughlan then sealed victory.
