SIGERSON CUP ROUND ONE:Athlone IT 2-7 IT Tralee 0-6 IT TRALEE exited this year's Sigerson Cup after a very poor display yesterday at the IT Tralee Sport complex. The home side were on the back foot from the moment they lost influential midfielder Brendan O'Mahony in the 25th minute when he received a second yellow card for an off-the-ball incident.
The visitors led by 2-2 to 0-5 at half-time, with John Stapleton converting a penalty in the 20th minute and a good move involving influential substitute Alan Douglas just before the interval resulting in a well-taken goal by Alan Lyman.
Tralee's only point from play in the entire 60 minutes came from the boot of half back Joe Scully, and Douglas was the star of the second half for Athlone, adding two points from play, as the Tralee challenge capitulated.
A Gavin McCarthy free was all the Tralee side could muster in a terrible second-half performance.
