Colaiste Eoin, Athy, experienced little difficulty in overcoming one of the new contenders, Kells CS at Portarlington.
The Kildare school laid the foundations for victory with tries in the opening half from Aaron Cuddy (two), Peter Dunne, Dessie Lawler and three conversions by Barry Cardiff. The only reply was a penalty by Brian Donnelly.
On the changeover, Athy eased up, though adding further tries from Jonathan Farrell and Mark Delaney, with a conversion by Lawler. Kells had the consolation of a very well worked try by Brian Dolan to which Conal Finn added the points.
