Australia ready for British invasion

Britain's team for the Melbourne Cup is due to arrive in Australia today

Britain's team for the Melbourne Cup is due to arrive in Australia today. Godolphin's Kayf Tara and Central Park plus the Mark Johnston-trained Yavana's Pace and James Fanshawe's Travelmate are sharing a flight which is scheduled to touch down at 4.35 p.m. local time.

Kayf Tara is favourite for the November 6th contest with bookmakers on both sides of the world. Godolphin, whose Faithful Son finished seventh last year, are expected to aim Central Park at the Louis Vuitton Mackinnon Stakes.

The new arrivals will go straight to the Sandown racecourse quarantine station, replacing Maridpour and Make No Mistake who come out of quarantine today.

Both horses will be transferred to Caulfield where the ex-Sir Michael Stoute colt Maridpour is due to gallop in preparation for Saturday's Caulfield Cup before moving on to his new trainer.
