Despite being homeless for the early part of the year, Ballinascorney members are still making their mark in inter-club and individual competitions. Now playing out of Oldfield, Kilmashogue Lane in Rathfarnham, Ballinascorney will contest the final of the Bloom Cup against Slade Valley with the first leg on Sunday next in Slade and the return at Oldfield on September 16th. Ballinascorney were already successful in the TSB-sponsored inter-club mixed foursomes at Bray in June when they beat off the challenge of 20 clubs from the south Dublin and Wicklow areas. They lost to Kilcock in the quarter-final of the Best Cup, but last week took first place in the South Dublin Captains' Association, through the team of captain Tom Meally, president Vinnie Byrne and past captain Pascal Duffy. Duffy, with 40 points on the day, also won the Paddy Andrews Trophy for the best individual score.
