Galileo, 6 to 1 second favourite with Ladbrokes for the Epsom Derby, is among a massive Aidan O'Brien entry for the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The Ballydoyle trainer is responsible for 16 of the 39 horses put in the Group Three event over 10 furlongs.

His others include Hemingway (10-1), Milan (20-1) and Beckett (25-1), who are also prominent in the betting for the Derby.

John Oxx, who won the trial 12 months ago with Sinndar, has seven entries.

O'Brien also has nine three-year-old fillies in the Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial and seven horses in the listed Amethyst Stakes. Both those races are over a mile.

O'Brien also has Milan, Ice Dancer and King's County in the entries for Saturday's Arena Racing Derby Trial at Lingfield. United Arab Emirates Derby failures Celtic Silence and Atlantis Prince are Godolphin's two entries for the race.

Celtic Silence fared better of the Saeed bin Suroor-trained pair at Nad Al Sheba in March finishing fourth behind stablemate Express Tour while Atlantis Prince was only 11th.

Both figure in the betting for the Derby, Celtic Silence at 25 to 1 and Atlantis Prince at 40 to 1. The Ballydoyle team are also strongly represented in the Arena Racing Oaks Trial. All four of their entries - Dream, Fantasy Royale, Imagine and Karsavina - are in the Oaks.

John Dunlop's Silver Grey Lady, whose full brother Silver Patriarch took the Derby Trial in 1997 before being beaten a short-head by Benny The Dip at Epsom, is also among 12 entries. The ground is likely to be testing but the two-day fixture is not in doubt despite the presence of waterlogged patches in the back straight.

Lingfield clerk of the course Chris Stickels said yesterday: "There are waterlogged patches in the back straight at the moment, but they have been drying out quite well over the last couple of days so we're hoping that this weather will continue and they will dry out. There's a reasonable forecast."

The going is described as soft, heavy in places, with the back straight and round course heavy (waterlogged) in places.
