Colleges GAA Leinster SFC A first roundSt Peter's College, Wexford 1-9 Scoil Dheaglain 0-7 Free-scoring Thomas Barron inspired St Peter's College, Wexford, to a five-point victory over Scoil Dheaglain at Power Park, Wexford, yesterday.

Barron struck four consecutive points in the opening quarter to give his side a 0-4 to 0-3 lead, with Paul Brogan, Gerry McCormack and Eamonn McManus keeping the Dublin college in touch.

After leading 0-7 to 0-3 at half-time, St Peter's seemed to have put the game beyond the reach of the opposition when Shane Cadogan goaled within 60 seconds of the restart.

However the Dubliners battled back to within three points, 1-7 to 0-7, with three minutes remaining. In the closing minutes the homeside lifted the siege, points from Arthur Murphy and Thomas Barron securing the win.
